MAXIMIZER books & movies

What books and movies would you recommend to someone strong (or weak) in Maximizer?

Maximizers love to transform something strong into something superb. Excellence, not average, is their measure!

Jim Collin’s book “From Good to Great” is therefore a must-read for all Maximizers. Similar to “First Break all the Rules”, it is based on extensive research and not someone’s personel opinions. No one less than Peter Drucker appraises the book on the back cover with these words:

“This carefully researched and well-written book disproves most of the current management hype – from the cult of the superhuman CEO to the cult of IT to the acquisitions and merger mania. It will not enable mediocrity to become competence. But it should enable competence to become excellence.”

Maximizers are fascinated with Strengths and Talents. Clifton’s Strengths Psychology is probably the best approach to this. But there are other interesting approaches in the field of personality research. I am not a specialist but I understand that the Big Five or Five Factor model of personality is nowadays widely accepted as one of the most accurate models to describe human personality. And one of the best books that I have come across about how to use the Big Five as a leader is Pierce J. Howards book “The Owner’s Manual to Personality at Work”. Another must-read for Maximizers in my opinion!
